SINOP MUSEUM & FIJORDS

Beautiful golden icons, coins, clay, glass, stone, metal objects and ceramics are on display at the Archaeological Museum of Sinop. Here, you will be fascinated by these and other relics dating back to the Hittite, Hellenistic, Phrygian, Roman and Byzantine periods. Also, don’t miss the special display of prehistoric objects, along with ethnographic carpets and other cultural items. The museum’s courtyard contains masonry, stones, sarcophagi and inscriptions. Leaving the museum, you will drive to the Hamsilos Bay to see Hamsilos Fjord, one of the great beauties of Turkey and a standout in a region where superlatives seldom do justice to the extraordinary scenery. Hamsilos is the only fjord in Turkey. It boasts dense green forests and brilliantly colored wildflowers, and a sea that flows inland like a river. During World War I, ships took refuge here, well hidden from Russian troops and bombers. Enjoy a refreshment and snack during your free time at the Fjords.  At the end of the tour, return to the ship or take advantage of an optional drop-off will that be arranged in front of the port area. Take time to stroll around the old castle area, and invest, if you like, in the beautiful handmade nautical wood carvings for which Sinop is well known. Walk back to the ship from here.
